We are continuously blown away by all of the incredible spaces we’ve seen featuring tiles from our Annie Selke designer collection. From quaint modern farmhouse looks to bathrooms that make you do a double take, designers have gone above and beyond. But don’t take our word for it – see for yourself!

Ikat

We’re starting out strong with some of our most popular (and favorite!) Annie Selke tiles. No matter where Ikat is displayed, its beautiful bohemian pattern speaks for itself.

When it comes to a Timber Trails design, you know every detail is decided upon after careful consideration. Each space highlights unity by repeating the Ikat color palette through the room.

Aylin

Aylin‘s eye-catching design is a recreation of one of Annie’s original patterns. This playful pattern is perfect for creating an uplifting and inviting room.

You can’t go wrong when it comes to pairing blue and white. Aylin Blue‘s energetic appeal was made to be incorporated in unique spaces like the dog bath in the image above and surrounding the bar below.

Artisanal

Give your home the perfect farmhouse charm with the Artisanal collection. The handmade-look, crackle finish and numerous color options make these tiles a timeless choice for any kitchen or bath.

Backsplash after backsplash, these looks just can’t be beat! Artisanal White looks better than ever in Domino magazine’s first ever shoppable home in Sag Harbor, New York. This subway wonderfully pairs with Aylin White in I SPY DIY’s kitchen below.

Speckle

The Speckle series is one of the boldest tiles in the Annie Selke collection. These tiles add light and pizazz to any design with their mirrored silver splatters and cowhide-look textures.

Annie even incorporated Silverleaf Speckle into her own primary bathroom’s shower. Tour the rest of her barn house in the Berkshires on the blog.

We’ll keep this brief as we know you are only here for two things: Sophia Bush and her beautiful California dream home. And let us just say, this house is everything you could want—and then some! If you haven’t already heard, Sophia Bush recently completed the renovation of her mid-century bungalow in Los Angeles, California. She spearheaded this incredible undertaking with the help of her talented friends, Orie Prince (contractor) and Jake Alexander Arnold (interior designer).

Photography by Trevor Tondro. All photography courtesy of Elle Decor.

Kitchen & Living Room

The goal for the kitchen was to design a “really beautiful space for community,” Orie Prince said. From entertaining friends and family to day-to-day use, the 13-foot-long island seamlessly achieves the design team’s intention. Detail after detail, this kitchen has it all.

The interior decor’s large variety of texture and color immaculately replicates the warmth of the outdoors.

Master Bedroom & Bath

From acting to activism, Sophia is what we would call a busy bee. Someone as involved and dedicated as her would most likely want the perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation. What better place than a master bedroom and bathroom?

Sophia referred to her new master bathroom as “the dream of dreams.” With a space this impressive, she is absolutely right!

We especially can’t get enough of the open, curved shower. Imperial Blush Mosaic beautifully plays off of the bathroom’s warm color palette. The glossy finish adds the perfect shine to help brighten the space.

Home Office

Fun fact: Orie and his team soundproofed the home office so that Sophia could have a space to record her latest podcasts.

Guest Room & Bath

The warm tones from the master bathroom were repeated in the guest bathroom to create the perfect sense of unity. This shower wall is embellished with a dark-hued Imperial Sienna Gloss Mosaic.

Powder Room

If you couldn’t tell by now, Sophia loves color just as much we do. We are mesmerized by this blue powder room. Love the color blue? Check out our blog post that is dedicated to this confident color!

Dive into the world of color with the Imperial Collection. With over 600 pieces in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, you can express your individual style and personality however you imagine.

Nestled in the hills of the Carolinas stands Cristin Cooper‘s rustic, refined farmhouse. With Cristin’s eye for design and the help of her husband and general contractor, Zach Cooper, this unstoppable team built their dream home from the ground up. Join us as the Coopers welcome us into their mountain hideaway!

“While we might be great at communicating, we are not always great at agreeing on architecture and decor,” Cristin said. “Zach is from the mountains and loves modern design and rustic elements. I’m from a small town in South Carolina and love all things southern, traditional and cozy.”

Kitchen

As we look through the rest of their mountain home, we think it’s safe to say they did an amazing job at deciding every design detail.

How gorgeous is the Meram Blanc Carrara Marble backsplash? The stone’s white undertones and light-grey veining beautifully unite with the white cabinetry and reclaimed wood accents.

Laura Ashley Laundry Room

The combination of black cabinetry and light-toned tiles creates a stunning contrast in Cristin’s laundry room.

This backsplash is so charming, we just had to include a close-up view! Patterned backsplashes are a great way to add a personalized statement in your home.

Love this look? Check out the rest of our Laura Ashley collection!

Porch Palace

Disclosure: If you get porch envy easily, then you might want to skip this section. From stunning views to charming decor, this space has it all!

“I thought it would be fun to embrace the bohemian trend,” Cristin said. “I decided to mix several patterns of textiles to pair with our simplistic furniture and keep everything neutral and inviting.”

See all of Cristin’s modern-neutral porch decor here.

Mudroom

Before Cristin visited The Tile Shop, she wanted a small, dark slate-looking floor tile for the mudroom. But to her surprise, the in-store inspiration helped Cristin choose a tile that best fit the smaller space.

“The larger sized Nain Negro really helps open up this narrow space. The tile has the look and feel of slate, but it’s actually a durable porcelain tile,” Cristin added.

Featured: Nain Negro

“The in-store tiled displays really helps you gauge different sizes and colors and how it will look in your space,” said Cristin.

Master Bathroom

“The Tile Shop helped me tremendously with this space as we had to decide what patterns and sizes would best complement each other and how much tile we would need for the shower and floor,” Cristin said. “I also learned all about niches in the shower wall, polished edging, Dural systems and all finishing pieces when designing a bath.”

Featured: Hampton Carrara Polished floor tile and Hampton Carrara Polished wall tile

Welcome to Hampton Carrara heaven! From herringbone patterned floors to offset pattern shower walls, this master bath shines with elegance.

Guest Bath

“Our guest room is downstairs in what I lovingly refer to as man land—this is where all of Zach’s favorite rooms are,” Cristin explained. “We wanted the bathroom to be dark, moody and rustic.”

Children’s Bath

While the other bathrooms in the house showcase lavish marble appeal, Cristin wanted a clean, simple and affordable tile design for this last space. Luckily, she didn’t have to sacrifice her style and was able to achieve her goal with the stone-look tile flooring. Calacatta Bianco unites the durability of porcelain with the stunning look of marble.

Earlier this year, we released an exclusive collection of over 200 tiles with one of our favorite designers, Annie Selke. Each tile pushed the boundaries of technology to reinterpret her original textiles and prints. Annie loved the tiles so much, she even remodeled her own home and guest house with them. We are excited to give you an exclusive tour of Annie Selke’s stunning barn house in the Berkshires.

Featured: Chester Silver Versailles. All photography courtesy of Annie Selke.

Country Kitchen

Open-concept floor plans are perfect for creating a warm, welcoming environment. By uniting the living room, kitchen and master bedroom, Annie turned this loft into the perfect guest house!

Notice the stone floors? They’re actually all made out of porcelain! Chester Silver Versailles’s stone look and chiseled edges add stunning, visual interest to every room.

To maintain a cozy look, Annie chose Artisanal White for the kitchen backsplash! The handmade look and crackle finish lend the perfect amount of softness and charm. Take a closer look below.

The Metallic Master

The architectural travertine wall tile behind the head of the bed proves that tile can go beyond the kitchen or bathroom. Harmony Silverleaf Mosaic Travertine adds a perfect wow factor with its three-dimensional design and lustrous silver-leaf finish.

Barn House Bath

Travertine stone’s variety of finishes and styles make is so versatile that Annie coordinated it in both the master bedroom and bathroom!

From the ceramic wall tiles to the travertine floor, neutral colors unite in this master bath.

Claros Silver Tumbled Cobble is an excellent option for this shower floor. Its tumbled finish makes it a natural nonslip textured stone!

What is travertine tile? What makes it so versatile? Check out our resource article for everything travertine.

We can’t be the only ones who are a little jealous of the luxurious tub and bathroom, right? Subtle patterned tiles are a great way to make an appealing and timeless statement. The serene, lattice pattern on the wall is so calming to the eye.

It’s time to take a peek inside the kitchen and master bath of Annie’s home!

What’s Cooking in Annie’s Kitchen?

We can’t resist a bright, airy kitchen! Light tints of white, tan and grey create a perfect color palette for a timeless design.

Love the look of stone but want the durability of porcelain? Well, you’re in luck! Annie utilized Cassettone Grey Mosaic’s distinguished, stone look without sacrificing longevity.

Spectacular Speckled Shower

Sure, you’ve seen bold tile looks before, but no statement compares to the design in this shower! Silverleaf Speckle features mirrored silver splatters on top of a cowhide-look texture. This designer tile truly commands and deserves your attention.

Lavish glamour is matched on the bathroom floor with the rows of DURAL Chrome Gloss Square Edge. The metallic trim pieces light the room for an elevated finish.

We’re back with another season of the One Room Challenge™ and we can’t wait to share the reveals! From distinct floor designs to glamorous kitchen backsplashes, we were blown away by each of the spectacular spaces that were shared. Here’s part one of our ORC reveal because we couldn’t fit all nine amazing spaces into only one post.

PLACE OF MY TASTE

We’re starting out with one of our most favorite bathrooms ever! Aniko of Place of My Taste turned her “work in progress” bathroom into a resort-style dream master.

This is how Aniko and and her husband designed their bathroom 10 years ago.
They slowly remodeled the bathroom over the years, but they never achieved their dream design.

“The goal for me was to marry two of my favorite styles: modern and vintage,” Aniko said. “The textures and combination of materials made my dreams a reality.”

Featured: Star Oxide, Evoque Carbon, Evoque Grigio and Reclaimed Wood Stacked Diamonds Architectural Mosaic. Design by Place of My Taste.

This luxurious, noir shower design is like a room right out of Architectural Digest! Both the Evoque Carbon wall tiles and Evoque Grigio floor tiles are made of porcelain. The durable material and industrial look makes them a perfect choice for this master bath.

ERIKA WARD INTERIORS

We can’t keep our eyes off of this next ORC space. Erika Ward transformed the warm woods and colors to a bright white and airy blue kitchen dream!

The before space

“Like a rare treasure, I discovered this glass mosaic tile with an iridescent quality much like the inside of a shell,” Erika said. “Installing the tile to the ceiling makes a grandiose statement about my love of the sea and nature-inspired design elements.

The metallic tiles remind us of a mermaid’s tail—don’t you agree?!

Even Erika’s fireplace got a facelift, and we think the design she chose is anything but dreary! When described, Erika says “the new tile marble mosaic surround and hearth reign supreme, classic and cool.”

VERONICA SOLOMON

You’ll have to do a double take after seeing this extraordinary before and after by Veronica Solomon of Casa Vilora Interiors. Each pattern unites to create one of the most luxurious laundry rooms we have ever seen.

What’s the definition of glamorous, you ask? This laundry room!

“The art-deco-inspired Streamline Stone Mosaic tile was the perfect way for me to bring in my signature pattern and style mix. I love the pattern with the wallpaper,” Veronica said. “Even though it is not recommended for floors, and only for wall installation, I knew that the laundry room would not be a high-traffic area, so I went for it as the floor tile.”

“You know us creatives. We are going to push the limits just a bit for just the right touch,” Veronica added. “I just love the gold banding that beautifully picks up the gold in the wallpaper.”

SHAVONDA GARDNER & CARMEON HAMILTON

What’s better than one talented designer? Two designers, of course! Shavonda Gardner partnered with one of her best friends, Carmeon Hamilton, to transform Carmeon’s home.

The before space

Have you ever seen a more glorious green bathroom?! The floor-to-ceiling Color Market Army installation on the shower and vanity walls is beautiful and moody!

To balance out the four dark green walls, Carmeon painted the ceiling white and incorporated white stone for the floors.

Transitioning to the master bedroom, Carmeon and Shavonda repeated the deep green color to create a sense of unity. Both the accent wall and ceiling were painted with Behr Marquee Interior Matte North Woods.

From the 3-D accent wall to the countless fabric patterns, Carmeon’s decor choices make this bedroom come to life!

“The foundation of the room and very first thing I picked out for the space was the Deva Linen Platform Bed in Linen Graffito, Carmeon said. “This bed is the literal manifestation of my dreams! The Graffito pattern on the clean lines of the bed are an ideal combination and the clean metal legs finish it perfectly.”

Meet Michelle Nussbaumer, the extraordinary interior designer behind House Beautiful’s 2019 Kitchen of the Year. What makes Michelle’s kitchen so special? Well, for starters, she didn’t just design one kitchen in her home—she designed FOUR kitchens, each more dramatic, eye-catching and luxurious than the next! Join us as we learn more about our favorite maximalist designer.

All photography by Douglas Friedman.

Michelle’s interior design career has reigned for 30 years. When Michelle is not designing projects around the world and leading her renowned showroom, Ceylon et Cie, she’s searching for her next source of inspiration.

“I’m a curious person, I always have been,” Michelle said. “I love traveling, nature and visiting forgotten properties. Before the iPhone, I used to sketch details that caught my eye. Wherever I go in the world, I take pictures, whether it be museums or a trim on someone’s dress sitting next to me. The world is full of inspiration. You just have to look for it.”

The Main Kitchen: Bold, Patterned & Unique

From a stunning Mayan-inspired mural to dramatic accents of our Rosso Marquina trim tile around the window, Michelle left no detail forgotten.

Why did you choose to incorporate Rosso Marquina?

“It’s stunning, bold and dramatic. From all of The Tile Shop’s beautiful marbles, I felt this one stood out, and I knew that I could create something special with it,” Michelle explained. “I also love the variety of profiles and trim. There are so many fantastic ways to use it.”

Michelle beautifully executed the colorful cabinetry kitchen trend. On one end of the kitchen stands daring blue and soft pink cabinets to lighten the mood of the kitchen. The opposite side of the space displays dominate, black cabinetry with a unique sculptural design. The strong contrast between the opposing cabinets completes the kitchen’s dramatic presentation.

Rosso Marquina Skirting gorgeously accentuates the door frame.

How did you create the black sculptural cabinets?

“I had in my inspiration folders for many years—a Louise Nevelson sculpture that I had taken a picture of in New York,” Michelle said. “I have been thinking for years of a way to create cabinetry based off this. I literally glued all of the pieces on with the carpenter and it took forever!”

The Cocktail Bar: Opulent, Provocative & Bespoke

Tell us about the iconic mural! What inspired you to pick this piece and recreate it on wallpaper?

“I was looking for an art deco bar that felt like we were somewhere else in time and yet still current. I had taken the photo of the mural years ago and saved it. With the help of Paul Montgomery studios, we brought to life the spectacular image. It’s based on the story written by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book,” Michelle said.

Michelle continued designing with the opulent theme with Marmi Classico Nero Venato Silk Porcelain tile flooring. The white and gold veining, satin-black marble look and soft finish make this selection as smooth as it is sleek.

The Art Kitchen: Private, Psychedelic & Emblematic

Behold, the art of maximalism. Maximalists strive to design bolder, brighter, busier and bigger. With “more is more” in mind, Michelle designed her kitchen with personality, worldly wallpapers and bohemian decor.

Featured: Provenzal Black

What does maximalism in design mean to you?

“Minimalism has reigned for many years. However, I have always been a maximalist. While others were doing less, I have been holding the course for more,” Michelle explained. “It’s just simply what I’ve always been drawn to and loved since the beginning of my career. I guess the rest of the world finally caught up.”

“People should live in what makes them happy.”—Michelle Nussbaumer, founder of Ceylon et Cie.

What is your response to people who are afraid of designing boldly?

“Beige and white are not colors. I live and design in Technicolor. I personally don’t ever want to live in a sterile, white-box type of laboratory. I think that people should live in what makes them happy. For me, that’s pattern. There are so many ways to incorporate color and pattern, and I think sometimes people forget about the floors, which are an easy place to start,” Michelle said.

Michelle incorporated Provenzal Black’s rustic shape to help increase the room’s old-world appeal.
Featured: Provenzal Black and Noir Honed Durand

What is your favorite kitchen out of all of the Kitchen of the Year spaces?

“That would be really hard to choose,” Michelle replied. “But I would say that I feel most at home in the Art Kitchen. It is my own private space, so I created a room that is very personal to me. It’s comfortable, cozy and inviting. And quite a few of my favorite things are in this room.”

The Speakeasy: Whimsical, Creative & Amusing

Eye-catching looks of stone and glamorous gold features create an ambiance of grandeur and charm. Stone-look tiles perfectly elevate this space with their rich stone appearance and the durability of porcelain.

What do you like most about working with tile?

“I love tile, and I love any material that create new patterns and backdrops for my design. The Tile Shop has such a huge array, and there are so many ways to combine your products and create something so completely individual and different. I mixed faux-marble porcelain tiles with real marble to create a very luxurious and sumptuous space,” Michelle said.

The home building and design industry is filled with endless inspiring designers and builders. One of our favorite developers over the past few years has been Timber Trails Development Company of Western Springs, IL. Our jaws drop to the floor every time they reveal a brand-new dream home. Join us as Timber Trails’ lead interior designer, Julie Howard, guides us through their latest masterpiece, Refined Rustic.

All photography by Stoffer Photography Interiors

What inspired the overall look and design for Refined Rustic?

“Tile is always my starting point. It’s the first item I select for a home, and it sets the tone,” Julie said. “The Annie Selke tile used in the basement bath and the laundry room were just introduced by The Tile Shop, and I loved them. They are what set the tone.”

Eye-Catching Entrance

The entrance of your home should set the tone, and Timber Trails did exactly that. The black features, warm wood flooring and courageous wallpaper greet you with open arms.

Dining Room

Behold, the grand dining room. This stunning space is Julie’s favorite room in the entire house. “It is the first thing you see when you walk in. I love that the white paneled walls are offset by the black ceiling,” Julie said.

Ceiling paint color: Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore. Wall paint color: Simply White by Benjamin Moore.

“When people see a design and say, ‘I never would have done that, but I love it.’ That’s when you know you’ve done your job as a designer.”—Julie Howard, designer for Timber Trails DC

The hallways in this home stretch as far as the eye can see, connecting you to countless uniquely designed rooms that stimulate and inspire.

Left space: Bold, black buffet. Right space: Home office.

Laundry Room

“We used Annie Selke Ikat Black in the laundry room because, to me, a laundry room should be fun. It doesn’t need to match the rest of the house because half of the time the door is closed,” Julie said. “Plus, who enjoys laundry? It’s nice to design a laundry room that makes you smile when you enter.”

“I’ve never been scared of black. I painted my first adult bedroom black 20 years ago, and it is still my favorite room I’ve ever designed,” Julie said. “It’s certainly caught on over the years as I’m seeing it on more walls and in more kitchens and baths. Black doesn’t date, and you don’t tire of it.”

Space: Powder room. Paint color: Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.

Victoria Grey Bath

Victoria Grey marble defines luxury. Its versatility and stunning appeal makes it perfect for numerous styles. We especially love the eye-catching stone mosaic rug look framed by Victoria Grey stone.

Kitchen

While the tumbled marble softens the space for a traditional feel, the accents of white oak warm up the kitchen for rustic, farmhouse appeal. The sleek counter tops and appliances are incorporated for a flair of contemporary style. What do you get when you unite these amazing designs? The always trendy transitional style.

If the space wasn’t already perfect enough, the added elements of hygge, like greenery and wood features, add in the perfect sense of comfort. Read our blog post on what makes Scandinavian looks so chic!

Living Room

As a member of our Pro Network, Timber Trails DC has maintained a strong and meaningful partnership with the Lombard, IL location and store manager, Kevin. Together, Timber Trails DC and Kevin have completed over 40 homes!

“We have a great push and pull. He keeps me in check when I tend to go too far, and he’s on top of everything down to each tile I need,” Julie said. “Kevin makes me feel like I’m his only client, which is great when you call in a bind, which I often do!

Master Bath

Siberian Pearl marble accompanied by deep black and gold features—dramatic elegance at its finest!

Featured: Siberian Pearl Brushed and Siberian Pearl Brushed Niles with Grey Dot Mosaic. Alcove paint color: Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.

“The marble in the master is so pretty because it is a white marble, but it has a lot of warm tones in it and is different than a white and grey Carrara marble,” Julie said.

Master Bedroom

Jack & Jill Vanity

How charming is this beach-inspired Jack and Jill bath? The repetition of the wood-look tiles on the wall and floor create such a pleasing, cohesive look.

Basement Bath

We end this home tour with one of our favorite spaces in the house: the basement bathroom. This space encompasses the three colors that are used throughout the house: black, white and brown.

We love the juxtaposition between the black and white features in this bathroom. While the patterned floor tile proudly catches your eye, the shower tiles contrast the bohemian pattern with a classic, solid-white subway. Notice the black grout lines in the shower—darker colored grouts create more character and add a more pronounced look to the grout joints.

Why do we love the color blue? It reminds us of the beautiful summer season, tropical waters, robin eggs, country skies, blueberry pie and even the cookie-obsessed character on Sesame Street. It also reminds us of how important it is to incorporate positive feelings into your designs. In this blog post, we’re identifying five different blue tile looks to transform help your home.

“Blue is known for its trust and dependability. It’s reliable, responsible, and mentally soothing. For that reason alone, it’s one of the most-liked colors across the entire world.”—CoSchedule

Pattern Play

The color blue is said to encourage efficiency and confidence. Patterns are a great way to express your personality. Put the two concepts together, and you have the ultimate courageous look!

Seaside Oasis

Light blue is the best color to design with when it comes to easing stress and promoting tranquility. Which is why it’s the a perfect color for creating a variety of coastal looks.

The Pixel series’ deep sea blue, teal and sea-green colors will add a nautical twist to a bathroom or kitchen. These ocean-inspired tiles are pool rated, making them perfect for adding a refreshing twist outdoor spaces.

Check out our latest signature look, Beach House Bath, in the image below. This eye-catching display features tile from our Color Market series. The light blue was pulled out of the floor and repeated on the wall to complement the bright colors.

“While the floor colors provide vibrancy and fun, the soft blue wall adds a calming effect, tying the beach vibe together beautifully.”—Kirsty Froelich, Tile Shop design manager

You can find Beach House Bath and explore more of the Color Market series’ endless colorways in a showroom near you.

You don’t have to dive beneath the ocean’s surface to find this next tile. Patchwood Deep Ocean’s wood look and dark shades of blue and grey replicate wooden planks from sunken ships.

Blue and white have remained a classic country palette throughout the years. The timeless duo adds a welcoming and refreshing look to any design. Our rustic Star Blue tile holds an identical coloration and feeling. Utilize the tile’s vintage charm and appearance to complete a modern farmhouse look.

Luxurious Blue

Who knew blue stone and stone-look tiles could be so appealing to the eye? We did!

Refine your kitchen backsplash with the soft blue undertones of Victoria Grey marble and refreshing white marble. This chevron mosaic provides a perfect accent of elegance.

Aqua Blu defines the look of luxury and individuality. The polished blue stone look instantly elevates this shower.

Bold and Blue

For our last look, we were inspired by the saying “go big or go home.” Improve the atmosphere of a small space by filling it with shades of blue. While this bathroom’s courageous focal point is the blue tile, the designer brightened up the space with accents of white and gold.

Step into the refreshing shower oasis below—the glistening blue Humboldt Glass subway tiles lighten the atmosphere. We love the coordinating niche and floor tiles. The Hampton Carrara marble adds an appealing sophistication to the design.

This spring, we had the honor of being an official sponsor of the One Room Challenge. Twice a year, 20 designers/influencers take on the challenge of transforming an entire room in just six weeks. Each week, the official participants share an update on the progress of the space. Luckily for us, the three designers we supported revealed some outstanding spaces at the end of the challenge. We hope you enjoy each of these spaces as much as we did!

At Home with Ashley

The first space by At Home with Ashley is one of the most uplifting laundry rooms we have ever seen. We realize that might sound like an oxymoron, but just see for yourself!

The before space

From classic white subway tile to rainbow painted flooring, Ashley incorporated numerous elements to bring this space to life. Ashley designed this space with so much bubbly character that it even had us wanting to invite ourselves over to do a few loads of laundry!

White subway tile is perfect for adding an attractive look to a space without taking attention away from bold accents and focal points. In Ashley’s laundry room, the tile perfectly supports the vivaciously patterned Euphemia 5 Wallpaper.

“To me, subway tile is still a classic look that feels very appropriate in our 1905 house. To modernize the tile, I added gold trim,” Ashley said. “The space feels so clean now with the walls of tile, which seems perfect for a laundry room!”

House of Jade Interiors

Picture a modern country kitchen—the type of kitchen that provides the perfect combination of warmth and charm. House of Jade Interiors took that idea and perfected it.

The before space

The magnetizing, modern and rustic features bring this modern farmhouse to a whole new level. While the backsplash reflects twenty-first century beauty, the tile’s handmade look and texture create a tranquil, artisan appeal.

We are obsessed with all of the organizational features in this kitchen. Take the center island for example— these gorgeous grey cabinets accent the white cabinetry and wood flooring perfectly.

House of Jade Interiors incorporated both glass cabinetry and open shelving in the images below. The combination of concepts truly give the feeling of modern farmhouse.

Notice the unique feature of tile inside the glass cabinets in the image above! We love this subtle feature because it adds texture and gives the enclosed cabinets a simliar feeling to the open concept cabinetry. If you love open shelving as much as we do, check out our Kitchen Trends for 2019 blog post.

Jessica Brigham

Jessica Brigham’s wondrously green kitchen had us jumping for joy the moment we saw it! Jessica glamorized her 1934 craftsman bungalow kitchen while still paying tribute to its original, vintage character.

The before space

Check out the final kitchen reveal in the image below. The Forest Green cabinets are probably the highlight of this charming kitchen, but we can’t deny our love for the delightfully textured backsplash (even if we are a little biased). Let’s discuss the three reasons why we love this backsplash.

Firstly, the tile. The Penny Round Gloss White Mosaic wall displays a texture that is absolutely inspiring. Since the tile and grout are both white, the tile perfectly blends together—almost disappearing into the wall as if were an illusion. But if you look closely, the glossy finish seductively pulls you in.

Secondly, the counter-to-ceiling tile design. This trend is perfect for adding height and a cohesive look to your space. Even Jessica said installing tile from countertop to ceiling was the best decision she ever made.

Thirdly, the brushed gold and brass features. These accents of glam seamlessly fit in with the contemporary yet vintage kitchen. Notice the gold profile trim along the ceiling line in the image above and at the edge of the backsplash in the image below. These chic trim accents effortlessly united with the aged brass lighting and brushed brass wall plates.

“These itty bitty pennies brought in a subtly glamorous, glossy grandeur to the space—a little razzle dazzle, if you will.”—Jessica Brigham

Jessica’s colorful cabinetry just so happens to be one of our 2019 kitchen trends. Check out the rest of this year’s latest kitchen designs now.
